Router IP

When adding a DVR/NVR in the Smart Surveillance Agent, there will be an option to enter the Router IP, which serves as the gateway for the DVR/NVR network. This is applicable only if the DVR/NVR-to-agent network connectivity is established via LAN, VPN, or similar networks.

If the Router IP (which is the DVR’s gateway) is specified, the agent can ping both the router and the DVR. This allows the system to categorize the reason for the device going offline:

  • Router Issue: If the router is unreachable, the health status will show “Router Ping Failed”, indicating a network issue.
  • DVR Issue: If the router is reachable, but the DVR is not, the health status will show “Offline/Not Reachable”, indicating a problem specific to the DVR/NVR.

This differentiation helps in diagnosing whether the offline status is due to a network failure or a DVR/NVR-specific issue, enabling quicker troubleshooting.
