Recording Type and Video Quality

Optimizing the recording type and video quality is essential for efficient local backups, ensuring the right balance between clarity and storage efficiency. Higher resolutions provide sharper details but require more storage on the PC where the agent is installed, while lower resolutions conserve space at the cost of reduced image quality. Follow these steps to configure recording settings and adjust video quality for optimal performance.

Steps to Configure Recording and Video Quality:

  1. Open the Agent Application from the desktop.
  2. Click the Agent Settings icon on the right side of the application.
  3. Scroll down to the Agent Configuration section and enable Local Backup.
  4. Click Open Configuration, then go to Local Storage.
    • Set the Video Location to a drive with sufficient storage.
    • Enter the number of days for video backup in Storage (days).
    • Click Save to apply the settings.
  5. Navigate to Device Management on the right side of the agent.
  6. Expand All Devices, then expand DVR and select the required camera.
  7. Click Video Settings on the right side to adjust recording preferences.
  8. Click Video Settings on the right to adjust recording preferences.
  9. Under Recording, choose one of the following modes:
    • Disable – Turns off recording.
    • Continuous – Records non-stop.
    • Motion – Records only when motion is detected.
  10. Under Video Quality, select either High or Low based on your storage and quality needs.
  11. Changes are applied automatically upon selection.
